I left town after asking my question and just had a chance to look at my truck again. Looks like it was the stoplamp all along....I did some yoga moves and found that the arm that is released, when the brake is applied, is shot. The brake lights come on when the arm is moved by hand....never replaced one before....I love it when I learn something new :p
