One of the reasons folks use the electric fans is as a replacement for the stock fans blades. I've seen many engine where the stock blades were removed and a fan placed on the engine side to pull air through as normal. The electrict fan come in many sizes and many cfm.
However, you may not like the look of the engine without the metal blades.
