My First problem is finding a readable VIN I dragged her down to the DMV today and the tag under the hood was unreadable. Where else might I find A VIN on this old truck? Thanks for the help guys..

Don't give up on that tag, I have seen some very crusty tags salvaged, at least made readable.

OLD POST That may give you some help. Whatever you do, do lose that tag! Do you have any old registration that shows the "vin" number? There is always a question on what this number is, most DMV departments treat it as a ''VIN" VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER, it is the assigned serial number from the factory.
