Dont own a 235,and it has been years since I set one, but I think I can help.
The engine is rotating clockwise as you view it from the front, (facing windsheild) If I remember correctly, the pointer is on the passenger side, rear of engine. So advanced timing (BTDC) should be below the pointer, Retarede (ATDC) should be above it.
