I have no experience with the V6 so I can't help you there but I want to say I like your truck.

I do know the earlier GMC straight sixes were famous for running loaded, wide open, all day long. I'd bet the V6s were run the same way.

The 3.07 gears would be a big improvement but I'd recommend an OD transmission. I run an SM319 behind the 248 in the Suburban. I can run 70-75 all day long with the engine purring, not roaring.

I'd also recommend power front discs if you are going to be running 70-75.
