Hey Don Stocker, I do have a choke cable on my truck but did not us it because this carb does have an auto choke. I had to re drill the holes on the base gasket to make it fit, did not notice a notch on it, I have a vacuum port on the manifold that runs my vacuum wipers. I do question the base gasket but did not know what to ask for since I had no numbers on carb. I used the same base that was on the 216 but hole pattern was slightly off (too narrow) Tried to adjust two screws on carb one is on side of carb by valve cover and the other is on the linkage. Timing seems to be right on and truck always starts on first hit.
