My original motor in my 1963 C10 cracked on me so I went on the hunt for a replacement. I found a 1983 chevy inline 6 (230 or 250) which is the same size as the one that cracked. The 83 was TBI so I swapped my head from the 63' onto the new 83' and it fired right up for me.
However, the problem I'm having is after I let the engine get warm I can't seem to get the carb adjusted to give the engine enough gas to idle. Even after it warms up to operating temp I have to stay on the throttle to keep it going. I've opened the idler screw as much as possible and played with the choke and nothing seems to work.
I was curious if the fact that the block portion of the engine (pistons, crank, cam, etc.) used to be TBI has anything to do with this problem. I've thought about upgrading the jets in the carb or possibly spending a little extra money to get an adapter to fit a 2 barrel carb since I have one laying around. Any input, opinions, or advise will be much appreciated.
