someone may have changed the frame under it. does it have an xmember or a ladder style frame. there are a lot of bastard type changes done to these trucks and it makes it difficult for a neophyte to these trucks to know exactly what was done to them. it would be interesting to see how your engine and trans is mounted.
it makes a difference as to how your ps pump gets mounted and as to how your p/steering box gets mounted to the frame.
60-62 2 wheel dr frames are a lot different from the 60-62 4 x 4 frame. those who usually convert to 4 x 4 will usually put a later frame in
does the eng mount under the front of the eng or on the side of the eng. is there a round tubular crossmember under the frt of the eng
if your mechanic doesn't know poop all about the older trucks, then he will be lost also and if he is a real mechanic or a backyarder will also make a large difference
if it is a chev then the ser# should be on the top of the frame by where the steering box goes. that should match the vin # on the plate inside the drivers door jamb and on your registration papers.It will be more helpful to know all of these things before you commence to do the work as you can sometimes get more screwed up on the jobs trying to match things up. what years is the power steering pump and that off of. long water pump or short water pump- different pulleys, different pumps - sae std thread or metric on the steering box,hoses and pump; there are years that these change
