When I removed my pinion bearing retainer and yoke, I could flop the shaft around as the outside race was not in compression anymore. I don't understand why this is possible. As I read in the manual, the whole pinion assembly is pressed into the case and therefore the outside race should be holding the inside inner race in place. Am I missing something here? Do I have a problem?
