Hi Old GMC

I am waiting to get my 1951 1 ton delivered to my house and I am reading up on as much as I can find on these trucks. So is it more veasable to just repair the original drum brakes or to try to swap out major components to make it stop better? I know I am going to want to drive my truck more than just in parades. I am looking at something I can drive to my job which is 11 miles away. So I will see stop and go type situations. I did notice NAPA sold the Hydrovacs brand new for these trucks...
