As you seem to be starting out fresh, I think the best bet, short of finding generator numbers would be to have a auto electric shop spin your generators to find or ID which is 12 volt.
Installing a new 12 volt, negative ground regulator would be cheap insurance that all was compatible. The Carquest number is VR-20...I think.
