...so really no sense in setting a tach redline past 3500 on a stock engine .... unless you don't care how long it lasts

Or...if you need to accelerate fast for on-ramps, merges, or the need to downshift to go up a steep incline (i.e. I64W in WV...7-8% grade for 5 miles), or you're just a bit of a hot rodder and like winding through the gears. Not all of us drive like grampas.
