Did you regularly oil the wrench? A drop in the air hole, each day you used it?
My HF CP (odd-brand Central Pneumatic) 1/2" 450 ft-lb impact wrench is almost as old as yours. Try some WD-40/etc down the air-hole. If it loosens up, put some oil down the air hole.
