I must be lucky. I've had Dot 5 silicon brake fluid in my 39 for 15+ years. Never any problems. Brakes work as they should. When I do the general maintenance in the spring, I adjust the brake shoes, top off the MC if needed, and adjust the emergency brake cables. Sounds as if I may need that E-brake at some point.
