The truck was built in Oakland California, lived its life out west, the 56 was in good original condition but still needed cab corners and front pillars replaced, (typical with the Task Force trucks), I had the Body parts done as show quality, The Cab, Fenders & Doors were fitted 3 times before Paint, I left the Original Factory Spot welds, I had the brake lines and exhaust formed to original specs, sent the heater, steering Gear box & Radiator out for rebuild, The 235 Motor was rebuilt Completely and I left it with solid lifters, The Motor was boiled down showing the original Blue Paint, (Most truck motors were Gray), I acquired New Glass from PPG and had the Date Codes etched thru the company, it was a long tedious restoration...Forest Green #732 Is the original color with (Standard Interior) Back in the early 80's when we lived in Arizona we had a 1957 GMC that I did a Frame on Restoration and drove it as a daily driver, Sold it to move back to Michigan, 20 years later (wishing we hadn't sold it), we went to a Car show in St Ignace Mi, GM had there display there and they had a 1957 Chevrolet 3100, after seeing that I said to My Wife wouldn't it be nice to have another Green Task Force truck to drive, the adventure began, So Far since the restoration was finished. We have shown the truck with AACA & VCCA, The 56 has received so far a Repeat Senior Grand National with AACA, & also received 996 Points for a first Oval with VCCA....The 56 has been in Both AACA & VCCA Magazines, We plan on having the truck judged for a few more years while I can keep it in it's current condition since the restoration , Then we may venture out to Non judging shows and Drive it locally down the road...... | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 Authorized Pest | Authorized Pest Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 | Steve, The Task Force truck look great. And you did a wonderful write up with selected images to go in here ... the gallery update! You've come a long way since September 2013 and your original Gallery submission. Congrats on all the recognition you got for all the hard work you did. Thanks for doing this update. I'll fix your Gallery page to link in here. The DITY Gallery link still works. I'll update the photo links, too.
