My 1949 3100 was a long....L O N G project that I started in 2015. After having many setbacks; electrical fires, a shop ruining my engine, locating another engine and having it rebuilt and installed, and all the bodywork & paint.... it's finally done.

At times it felt like this day would never come, but it runs amazing, drives fantastic, and is proving to be reliable.

I don't post a lot, but I certainly use this site as a bible of what to do and how to do it almost daily. So many thanks to this wonderful group of Stovebolters who helped me get this old grumpy truck back on the road and looking & driving like new. Hopefully, this gives hope to those that get frustrated and start questioning whether they'll ever get it done. You will, I've been there.

Sometimes doing the build is the most fun. Tinkering on the truck even if it was only for a 1/2hr was nice mental therapy.

Thanks guys!! Jim you’re a 100% right on that; tinkering and incrementally working on various components of the truck is cathartic and prob why we all took on these project trucks in the first place.

Beautiful truck, looks great. I know what you mean about taking forever sometimes. Seems like you will never get to the end of the project when you can finally enjoy it. Do you mind me asking what paint you used for the interior. I'm looking at doing my interior soon and trying to get a few options for interior paint. Yours looks very nice, so just wondering what you used for it.

Tom, I used this stuff from classic parts. I think the interior turned out pretty good. My painter did put glossy clear coat on the dash which I am not a fan of…. So I’m not sure how it would have been (better or worse) without the clear coat.

Been away a couple days, thanks for the information on the paint. I think I would try it without the glossy clear coat, I don't think the paint had much of a gloss from the factory (I'm not criticizing your truck, it looks fantastic). Yes, a couple of more pictures of your interior would be great, maybe a closer view from both the driver and passenger side looking at the dash & also view showing the back window area. Please do this at your convenience, it is still winter here in Minnesota so I will wait till warmer weather before any painting takes place. Thanks again and look forward to hearing from you.

I’m happy to get those pics for you today. No offense taken, I 100% agree on the no gloss clear coat for the interior. By the time I found out the painter had done that my truck was mostly put back together. So I just shrugged it off, and chalked it up to “life isn’t perfect”. I still really like the color and would use that interior paint again without question.
