1946 Chevy 1 1/2 Ton Homemade Wrecker

I bought this wrecker from an estate sale about 5 years ago. The only information I have on it is the previous owner told family members it came off of an Air Force base. The boom on the truck looks like it came off a WW II M6 bomb service truck The winch is a Galion and is pto driven for up and starter motor for down. The park brake is linked up to the master cylinder for 4 a wheel lock up. 2 years ago I got it running and worked on the brakes until they worked and drove it around a little. I’m thinking of removing the wrecker part of it and put a flat bed on it so I can use it around the place.

The Crane looks to be a modified Lot 7, a type that was fitted to various vehicles.
I had the opposite idea of putting one of these on a stake bed 1.5 ton
