I have been a member of the bolters for about ten years. This is my 49 gmc, which i have owned and been working on for about ten years. I always thought it was a 50, but 49 is what the title says. It was a total wreck when I first hauled it home, no glass, bed full of junk, cab full of mice mess, no tires. The original 228 had a cracked block that had been repaired a number of times by brazing, JB Weld, Bath tub caulk amongst other methods. I was not able to bring it back to life, so it got a 350 engine I built up myself except for the over boring. It has been my therapy project over these years, and has followed me through three house moves. It is finally tagged and legal, and only lacking a temp gauge and a fuel gauge before it gets its first run down the highway under its own power in at least 30 years.
