Some folks have built dollys that they then lower the body onto as Joe mentioned. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 | I just used one off those eng lifters from inside the cab and back and blocked it up. pm me your email and I can send you pics ron
your pretty brave on those trusses. they are really designed to hold much weight other than drywall. you are also storing stuff up there | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 | yes , but we are not talking about snow load. that roof(or trusses ) are designed in their configuration to withstand snowloads. we are talking about 4 what are they 2 x 6 that look like they must span at least 25'. they are more than likely spruce and they look full of knots. they are not that strong ron

I made a rotisserie out of wheels and hubs with pipe running from front set to rear. used cranks off a tractor trailers legs with a wheel with holes in it so i could rotate it. pic album: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9155420@N02/ | | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 159 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 159 | Tony , How did you attach the jacks to the body ? So do whatever you want to do, I know what materials & how my garage was built, I have never had a problem doing this way & will continue to do it this way until someone buys me a lift... so if we took a 10 x 10' section in the centre of the span = 100sq' and attached 500lbs to each square ' you would stand under it ron | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 788 | http://s908.photobucket.com/albums/ac281/padresag/suburban/this is how I lifted this one off and put on a dolly. I removed the doors and strung a double 2 x 8 and tied to the roof in the frt door frame(needed double for height) and the ran a 2 x 8 from the rear over the top of the 2 x 8 and then used plumbers hanger strap to secure it to the top of the rear door frame. then used the motor lifter front and rear to get it jacked up to height to slide the frame out. then lowered it down for the dolly. am going to part that body out as I have a much better one. which is going to replace my old panel body which was on an orig 4 x 4 frame. hope this helps ron

We placed the rubber cushions of the lift arms under the body and placed pieces of 4x4 blocks, between the cushions & the underside of the body. With the body off the frame, we rolled the frame out and moved the carts in place. The dimensions we used for the attachement points to the underside of the body, correspond to the factory holes in the body. The uprights and framing supports on the carts were then cut and welded in place.
