Does anyone know if GM put any colored markings under their 48 to 54 pickups or on the fire wall etc.
Is their a source for this info.?
Thanks John.

John,

This topic comes up a few times a year.

People have posted photos of various types of crayon(?) markings on the firewall. Some seemed to be codes/words for options (probably used on the assembly line).

Another one I found, this was from another farm truck, a very complete and original 1954 6400.

I have a pic of a big yellow "5" next to the voltage regulator on a 1950 3100. 5 window? I don't know.
There is a factory photo of the engines on the assembly line with marks on the head and bell housing.
Some parts had the date inked stamped.
Another way to make it look factory is replicate the overspray on the bottom of the hood and cab. It's ugly but correct.
