After I did it the oil flowed like water. Question: When I took the assembly off the push rods went slack and when I re-assembled and primed the oil pump the rods were not slack. Is this just compression? Here's a pic: http://i.imgur.com/dPlll1W.jpgthese two holes were the distributor mount I am guessing but how do I plug them as they run into the valve chamber? Use short bolts/screws so as not to jam the push rods for the vavles. The oil feed will be crimped , there are several different ones that where used.

Cleaning the assembly should have been the first action, but crimping/sealing the feed-tube was much easier. What year and size/model truck? Might you have an electric solenoid starter, and you are referring to the solenoid? Can you post a link to a picture?

So what's the different between a coil and a solenoid? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 212 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 212 | Yes...the two Holes in the image, are for your Coil to ount - http://i.imgur.com/dPlll1W.jpgI used 4 inch long "Allthread" pieces to mount the Coil in the usual place, on my 1960 235. Lock Nuts to secure the All Thread to the Block...then, the Coil Bracket is about 3 inches out, so the Coil stays 'cool'. Coil Bracket then is secured using Nuts and Washers on each side of the Braket flanges.

these two holes were the distributor mount I am guessing but how do I plug them as they run into the valve chamber? The two Holes are for your Coil Bracket to mount. They have nothing to do with the Distributor. The top crimp is correct, do not mess with it. The Tube feeds the Rocker Shafts from where it is brazed to the Shell there, and it feeds Oil to the Shafts from it's side, not it's ( crimped ) end.
