Dale here, Bolter # 5781 we (The Little Rascals Rod Shop) have started a new truck, it is a 1957 Chevrolet ½ ton, that was picked over for parts and was destined for the crusher. So just like before we hauled it away for free. It had no frame or drive train, (the short chassis was put to use under a 55 2nd big window truck) but it does have a complete body, the cab is very solid but the bed is soft and the front fenders are pretty beat up. We placed the 57 on a 1978 Suburban frame that we had to shorten 16”, the rear cab mounts lined up with mounts on the frame even. We got the Suburban for free as it was bought by a friend only for the big block and he was going to crush the rest. We are using the original 55 GMC Hydro-matic column (it came with our truck), a 350 V-8/350 Auto. It should be a lot of fun and our total investment as of today is $550.00. We will keep you posted.
