Does this 47 3600 have the typical bendix to engage the flywheel? Sorry to ask but I just spent 15 minutes looking for an oil filter that isn't there!!!! LOL. I tried banging on the starter with a hammer, no help there. Can any of you amazing stoveheads give me a fix before I pull the starter? I just got this in the garage last night, and I'm pretty stoked to get her started. Thanks.

Yes, typical Bendix. If the starter spins freely when the teeth are engage then it is bad.

By any chance, do you have a stomp starter? Look for a round pedal just to the right of the gas pedal? Press it all the way down and engage the start button/ key again.

I do, and was wondering the same. Pressing the switch on the starter itself results in a spin, without engagement. Am I so stupid that I should have pressed the button on the cab floor? All I have done is pressed the switch on the top of the starter. WTF. Lets try again now that I removed the starter and lubricated it. If you don't hear from me, you know I am an idiot.

Hey, it happens! Makes sense, push the switch on the motor & it spins but no crank. But wait, no solenoid to move the drive lever! Push foot start and all is good, you're not the first one!

I would bet that nearly EVERYONE tried to do what you did the first time they tried to remotely start a stomp starter engine. Everyone is born a pants pooping, drooling idiot. Then we learn to do things right. Then we get old and become pants pooping, drooling idiots. It is the cycle of life. BTW, I haven't pooped my pants in months.

Yeah, you can start it with a screw driver. Put it in the wrong place and you get to start the "Idiot" shuffle. All spin and no go. All have done it. Some have lied about it. Others?....:)
