#99649 02/27/2007 3:19 AM | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 22 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 22 | Have you checked the sending unit, make sure you have no brakes in your wire, just take the sender out, put a meter on the sender both terminals move the float up and down and if it reads check the wires, if the wires are'nt bad check the gauge. But I would check the sender or the wires first. check the wires with a meter with the ohms setting. good luck
if its not broke....you didn't drive it hard enough!

I had mine changed from the original about two years back. It did the same thing yours did. The sending wires were shot, the float was no longer. Now it almost reads right.

First the float sank, then the wiring died, then the sending unit itself died. Having good connections all the way around make a big difference. With the wire "hangin' in the breeze and the key "on" the guage should read "full". Ground the wire, and the guage should show "empty". | | |

Appreciate the chatter and have copied your messages so this week I can test it. I had it at the speedometer shop and those guys fixed the speedometer, but shrugged their shoulders when it came to the gas gauge. Thanks,
