My dad and I picked up a 1934 Panel truck yesterday. My father bought the truck from a used car lot in 1962 when he was 20 years old. He sold it a few years later when he went into the Navy. When he returned from Vietnam, he bought it back. In 1989, he sold it at Hershey. Now once again in December 2013, he is reunited with it once again. Not many people can say they've bought a vehicle three times over a fifty year period.

It needs a few things to get it back on the road, but not much.

Welcome Steve, beautiful truck. Tell your dad never to sell it again. Keep it in the family.

Lots to learn here if you need anything. Don't be shy and thanks for posting the pic.

The seller told me he has 50W oil in the engine, and felt that it was necessary for old engines. I have always ran nothing but 30W in my antique cars, and I drive them a lot. I would think that a thick oil would not flow well in an engine that relies on scoops to lubricate the rods.

Steve, there are almost as many opinions on oils as there are oils. Ask what others use, in the engine shop.

Nice looking set of wheels and a great story behind it. I'm new here myself and already the wealth of knowledge here has come in handy. Good luck on the build!

Whenever you leave behind failure that means you're doing better if you think everything you've done has been great you're probably dumb
