I have 2, a '49 Chevrolet that I have had for 15 years and a '52 GMC that I watched for 4 years and have owned for 5. Planning on T@C floor and seats and GM 4.2 L I-6 for drivetrain. Resto rod so I can drive the wheels off of it!

Hey guys, it would be GREAT if you could post a picture. Every time I read about one of those I drool and want to see it.
Thanks if you can.

I started this post 9 years ago in october 2004, as of now we have 49 confirmed owners who have checked in. Unfortunately as time goes by so have a few of our friends, old sub was one of the first ones to check in, he was always there for support. Buddy in AK has disappeared, I used to talk to him regularly and we met up locally one day, that's about the last we have heard from him. There are others too that are no longer regulars and i would like to hear from again, maybe a little "search and rescue" is need.

I love those old burbs. I thought that I would have to look the world over for a pre-war burb, and found one "rusting in piece" a few miles away from my house!

I'm an owner of a 1940 burb, and have never met another owner of a pre-war burb locally. On vacation in Washington I saw a 39 Canopy Express at a camp spot, and HAD to stop. So we are out here, just few and far between.

Suburbia, you need to hit up with Brad Allen and all you Utah bolters have a big gabfest. Brad is also one with lots of stovebolt knowledge/history and factoids. Go for it.

Hmmmm- - - -can't believe I've missed this thread all these years! Mine is a 59 Burb with barn doors, currently with a 1970 307 V8, a SM 420 and an 8-lug GMC Dana 60 positraction 4.11 rear. "IRWIPI" in 1990! It's eventually going to get a 1975 500 Cadillac engine and a Turbo 400 trans, plus a mid-1980's 3/4 ton IFS crossmember narrowed about 3" to keep the front track width right. Along with the 5 or 6 other major projects and the gunsmith shop, I might catch up in another 40 or 50 years! That will make me the busiest 117-year-old around!

Rarer than Panels.

Only the 3107 Canopy Express would be rarer for "standard body" 3100 trucks. CEs were 1/40th the number of Suburbans.

Howdy! New member here from North Texas. Just purchased a 1959 Suburban. Gonna be a fun restoration. Body is mostly good. Nice 235 with a granny trans. I want to get her back into a set of stock rims asap. Is 15 x 5.5 (with hub clips) a typical size? And of course I'm seeking what, I would assume many others are seeking, a set of original seats (insert howling coyote sounds here!). If I eventually run into a solid wall on original seats, may I ask, will earlier or later Carryall seats fit my '59?? Or how about, does anyone have an idea for seats that might give it a "somewhat original look? I assume the front seat is tough, being the 66/33 split and all. Very much looking forward to absorbing some serious "Old Burb" knowledge from you all! Thanks again!

Welcome Texan. The seats from '47-59 are the same. Best start saving now. They don't come cheap.

Howdy! Appreciate the response. Yes… digging money out of the sofa cushions as we speak. Just finding a set will be all inspiring. I guess some things they will never reproduce. Nice to know there is a stovebolter down in Parker County. Hope to meet you one day.

Happy New Year to all Fellow Stovebolters! Have any of you Suburban owners ever used or seen used ….. school bus seats in place of the ever elusive stock Suburban seats?

Thanks! Maddog
