I am the proud owner of a 53 GMC that has obviously been retrofitted in many ways. The rear end is a 8.5" but still using the stock leaf springs with a spacer to make up for the 1/4" difference in the rear end hangers. I would like to switch over to 2" springs but keep the same ride height, does anyone make a kit or brackets to convert the spring hangers to 2" wide springs without dropping the ride height? Also, anyone know of any good donor cars for leaf springs that have close the same specs as the originals?
Thanks

I've always thought the Ford Ranger Spring would be a good swap. Of course, you'd have to use the Ranger Shackles/hangers. They're 2.5" vs. 2" so, they should add some stability to the truck.

There's this kit too

I'm liking the ford ranger springs. I remeasured the spring perches on the rear end again today cause they looked big in the pics and sure enough the opening in 2 3/4, so a 2 1/2 wide spring with 1/8" rubber pads would fit perfect. I'm sure I could adapt the hanger/perches to fit the frame too
