Does anyone have any detailed pictures and/or information for the complete brake system for a 1/2 ton 3100 truck, including the master and wheel cyl., and the brakelines and connecters. My suburban came in a basket so I don't exactly what goes where. Appreciate any help. I looked at the shop manual but it doesn't give good explanation or pictures.

do you know what the connector in view "A" is called? Is there one of these connectors at each wheel cyl.? Do you have a rebuild in photobucket of your truck showing the brake system?

Thanks for the pic.The rear cylenders that I have are the ones with threads on both enda and has the 1" bore. I bought a 51-72 rear rebuild kit fro J.C. but the rubber covers are way too small. Can I use this cyl. on my 50 burb and if so, Do I need to use the metal adjusters or can I just use the rubber boots?
Also, do you have any pics of your build showing the brake system?

I think my 1954 fr/rr Bendix systems would be different from your 1950 fr/rr Huck systems.

DADS50 is your best bet for advice, as long you both are dealing with the same year/type brake parts.

I removed my HUCK fronts for disc
My rears are bendix


Maybe someone with a stock set up with good pics will chime in?

By looking at your pics I think I have a Bendix brake setup. Whats confusing me is the rear wheel cyl that I have. They are the ones with the threads on both ends. Does the rear bendix cyl. have the threads? if not, could I use the my cyl. with the rubber boots? My cyl have a 1" bore. Your pics don't show the rear brakes from the inside, only the back side. What rear cyl. did you use? Does it have the rubber boots or the metal adjusters?

If it has the adjusters, you have the Huck style brakes.

I don't have the metal adjusters, but the ends are threaded. I have the adjusters on the bottom of the shoes. I looked on J.C. website and he has the complete rear cyl. for $20. ea. It's more for a rebuild kit for the 51 cyl.Do you have any pics of your rear brakes from your rebuild that shows the whole brakes with cyl. and shoes?

Thanks for your help!!!! It looks like I must have 51' front spindles because I don't have the wheel cyl. with the metal adjusters.I have what I think are the 51' bendix brakes with the star-type adjusters at the bottom of the of the shoes. So I think that I must need to use the 51' rear cyl. too. As for the threads; My wheel cyl.have threads inside of the ends of the cyl. There is a recessed shoulder about a 1/4 inch deep and then the bore is 1" thru and the other end is threaded the same.They are female threads. Hope that explains it. Is your link pics of the bendix brakes at the rear?

Again, I want to thank you for your detailed pictures of how the brake assemblies goes together. After looking at them about 50 times, I believe I've figured which rears are dr, side and which are pass.side. The questions I have are; (1) where does the wavy washer go? In between the parking brake arm and the brake shoe, or on the shoulder bolt behind the parking brake arm? (2) Also, not sure which parking brake arm is the pass. side and which is the drivers side? Does the bottom "U" shaped bend that holds the cable on the pass. side rear go in toward the backing plate or does it face out? I hope I've asked the questions correctly so you can understand. Again, THANKS ALOT!!!!!

Luckily for me I did not have to get into the park brake on my 50.

That may be why I'm not sure about the wavy washer or the arm position.
