Greetings from New Jersey ,

I just picked up this GM NOS Generator Rebuild Kit.

I cleaned & polished all of the tarnish

and oxidation off of everything except the

rear commutator bushing. Bushing had no

issues.

I can't find this GM part # 2.306 - # 1393618

in any of my manuals.

I tried GM parts wiki.......no luck.

Can anyone locate this part # along with

the application ???

you might try searching numbers from individual parts, particularly the bearing

George,

That kit would fit any 2 brush short or long case Delco generator from the early 50s to early 60s on automotive applications and up into the late 60s on tractor or commercial applications with the standard short or long case "step down" generators.

Ken, The grease in the Drive End Bearing in the kit is dried up like a wax candle cake.
After, I clean out the old caked grease.
What kind of grease would you use to re-grease the bearing ???
Didn't GM have a special grease for this purpose ???
Should the bearing be packed totally full with
new grease ???

see photo of bearing @ photobucket

I would think any hi-temp bearing grease would work, however, I would suggest going with a new double sealed bearing instead of the open bearing, just my 2 cents worth. Originally they were oiled with a light weight oil. The oiler cap in the drive end housing was used for that.
