I don't see one, but that would be cool..
Anyway, I'm looking to get front wheel seals for a 41 1.5 ton COE. I don't want the old encased felt stuff. Anyone ever purchase actual, more modern type wheel seals based on ID and OD? Any Napa or other numbers floating around in the community to achieve this?

I know that I've seen a lot of info.,on this topic. In the mean time try SKF/C/R p/n 20669 $12.38 U.S.D.at RockAuto, this is a rubber lip seal, hope that helps.

The 56 also had an inner wheel bearing where the inner race was where the old felt seal rode. I ended up replacing the inner bearings with bearings that did not have an extended inner race to take up the space I had a spacer made that had to be heated and pressed onto the spindle. The OD of the spacer was made to fit the ID of the seal we chose then I had the ID of the hub turned to match the OD of the chosen seal. I had tried like hell but could not find a seal that would fit without modification. In the end I killed two birds with one stone and ended up with better inner bearings the are not made of unobtainium. There are pictures showing the whole process on my photo bucket account if you can get the links to work I am having trouble sharing from my album's.There is also more on it in (working on the bulldog again). | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 | Thanks Guys! Interesting HevyHauler. I'll check it out. I'm in for one of Dominicks disc kits if they ever get made and might opt for it at that time.
About a parts list, I don't think it is something that I could take on myself because at best, I'd be listing part numbers of things I come across for my 41 COE (which I can do). I thought it might be cool to have a specific forum where people can list parts, like posts, and someone on the end of SB could catalog them as they come in. I wouldn't want any one person to go to too much work, but if it was a work in progress, the end result would be fantastic. I'd be happy to share what I have come across which is wheel bearings, pinion bearings, and brake hoses, as well as wheel cylinders. It's a consideration for those higher up in the SB line. Thanks 3B, I'll check that part out! Tom | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 120 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 120 | One point. All the original felt or leather seals were soaked in oil, an they always weep a little. See in the rear axle there is a cup to catch leakage in the drum, and a hole to let it out. The felt or oil soaked material is very kind to the metal. After 139000 miles all my seals were worn out but the shafts , which were not hardened, were fine. Neoprene lip seals are good but dont leak so they tend to get oil on one side and dirt on the other and wear the shaft at one place. If you can handle felt, for grease its OK and grease will come out when the gun is applied, and lubricates the felt and the shaft.
