Please respond only if you see it explained in the book.
John, where in the book did you see that reference? | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 19 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2010 Posts: 19 | Please don't put it in the greasy spoon. I have a steering box for an AD truck. I'm trying to find out what size truck it would fit. Under the part number 270251 in the master parts catalog online. Under this part number it fits SBC, 2 ton. I appreciate any help. Thank you! | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy 5WINDOWJOHN, as red58 said, SBC means School Bus Chassis, the earliest reference to that in the abbreviations section of the parts books I checked was in a 1958 book. I learned this at least five decades ago, hope that helps. | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,149 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,149 | I WAS LOOKING THROUGH A MASTER PARTS MANUAL 1929-1954 AND SAW,1947-53- SBC, 2 TON WHAT SIZE TRUCK OR STYLE TRUCK DOES THE "SBC" REPRESENT Check front of Catalog under Abbreviations start at page 5, what your looking for is on page 6. The Master Parts Catalog 1929-1954 has some dead links if you start at the CONTENTS page and try to click Next Page you get a dead link. You have to start at the ALPHABETICAL INDEX page 11 and click Previous page and back up to page 6. Master Parts Catalog 1929- 1957 does not have this problem. Any Whoo, (SBC) or (Sch. Bus Ch.) = School Bus Chassis Here the link: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/parts/1929_54/006.HTM (Upper right hand column) "red58" Had it correct! | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | geez, right for a change Bill | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,149 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,149 | Just in case you do not know about the web site it has a ton of free online manuals to view, here is the link: OLD ONLINE CHEVY MANUALS http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/I was not sure if you were looking at a paper Catalog or the online Catalog. | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 19 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2010 Posts: 19 | THANKS FELLAS, IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. | | |
