I got my New seat in that's from a 98-01 dodge.Im putting it in a 65 Chevy truck.anyways I got it in and well you can tell from the pics about the shifter.its a th350 with a b&m shifter and the engine is a vortec 350. my question is are there any way I can move the shifter? or turn the shifter around so that its facing the other way toward the window. if you have any solutions to this problem please let me know. I really don't want to have to look for another seat

Tank still behind the seat? Maybe make a new shift lever. Even when my tank was behind the seat I never had that issue. Always had b&m mega shifter. Then again I have a stock seat.

can someone please explain this to me I was reading on the B&M website and it said since I have is cable operated shifter the one that looks like a 4spd one it will fit a bench seat. what I want to know is how does work.how can I make my shifter so sorry for my bench seat so I'm able to go down to low gear

Move the assembly forward. When mine is in park I'm close to punching the bottom of the dash. Mine looks was different than the boot you have. Was your truck a stick before? B&m sits on a big bracket. All I see is shifter lever on your photos.

You'll have to buy a b&m or comparable I think. It raises the whole assembly. It raised the whole thing about 3-4". I can take pics of mine and text them to ya but I can't post online. My laptop is a pile. Joker had to post pics of my truck and motor for me lol

How about a different approach. Take that middle section of seat to an upholsterer and have them cut a notch or a half circle recess out of it to fit the shifter and recover it.

I'd pull the seat out and go back to a standard seat - but I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla.

From your pictures it looks like you don't have a cable B&M shifter - looks direct linkage to me. If you gotta keep the seat then you will need to buy a new shifter.

if you really want the seat as is I would
take it and see what would be involved in cutting/notching
a hole forward of where it is and off the ridge, and make it lay flat and level
you might be able to do it yourself if you have the cutting skills

that might allow you enough room without having to deal with the shifter as such.

a good fabricator metal type person could fix it up for you.

Yeah it looks like a direct linkage shifter. Drop some loot on a lokar shifter. It's $100 less than b&m but same style.

Im going to try and turn the shifter its self around if that doesn't work ill try the base of the shifter then if all else fails ill get a shorter shifter

I'm going to see if I can turn the shifter around if that doesn't work I'll try moving the whole shifter up.if all that fails I'll find a different shifter or rod to something that was a 4spd and a bench

Ok guys figured it out.I just need a longer Rod that goes from the shifter to the trans. The rod thats on it is threaded so I need something on it so I can screw another rod on it.then move the shifter in the middle of the floor. here's the pictures I took from under the truck and excuse my drawings.the red Circle is where the shifter is now and the blue X is all open floored going towards the dash where I want to put shifter once I get a longer rod. by the way can somebody tell me what that Rod is called and maybe where I can get a longe one.thanks

it's called a shift rod unless you can get different lengths from where ever you got the shifter, you should be able to get some 1/4" ready rod and cut it the length you want, put the threaded fitting on one end and bend the other as appropriate .... if you'd gotten a Lokar shifter it's be easier, they supply a long rod that can be cut to length with excellent thread-on fittings for both ends

I did that to my 52 after having the five speed s-10 installed, they used the existing shifting handle and reworked it with a curve extension, look really good

Im about to use a tap and die on the rod I have now and,cut what i don't need off. I had to cut a new hole in the floor to more the shifter.it's not hard but having 2 people would help so much it ain't funny.being under and in the truck at the same time

I got the shifter in but I still need to adjust it. I have every gear but reverse so tomorrow im going figure out the deal

Can someone tell me which gear the trans needs to be in so I can hookup the linkage.its a Th-350 Trans.I have all gears but park,reverse but I can climb under the truck and manually put it in gear.

Put the trans. in "Park", push the shifter as far forward as it will go, then hook up the shift rod.
