Hey guys/gals;

Were the bumpers on a 1950 3800 always either stainless or painted? My front bumper looks a little rough but its never been painted. If its stainless I'll try to smooth it out and polish it up. Is there an easy way to tell after 63 years?

Thanks - Bruce

Try a magnet although some stainless is slightly magnetic. If the magnet sticks hard then you know.

There were no stainless steel GM truck bumpers (standard, optional, or accessory) between 1947-1955.

Chromed bumpers were standard on light duty and medium duty Chevrolet trucks in 1950.
1950 bumper finishes.
A 3800 was considered a medium duty truck for Chevrolet in 1950.
