Then I checked my turn signals and 4 ways. They worked. That's when I noticed my left brake light stopped working. Tryed turn signals and 4 ways again and then the brake light worked. Just wondering if maybe my turn signal switch is bad. It's the original one that was in the column from a '74 Buick Century. Wuddya think? Thanx

#96292 07/11/2006 12:41 AM | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Easy enough to check.Use a test light at the stop light socket(bulb removed) and test for power and ground,then work your way forward to the switch.Most times it is a poor intermittent ground or loose socket.

Must be able to cook , clean , sew , tune engines and polish trucks. Must have old Stovebolt and garage. Please send picture of old Stovebolt and garage.

I bought new taillights last year from Chevy Duty and they had 2 #61 lamps instead of 1 #1157. Adequate, but not real bright. I got a set of sockets from LMC made to convert the front parking lights to turn signals, modified them slightly and used them in my taillights. They use 1157's. Now my taillights and brake lights are nice and bright plus my left brake light seems to work all the time. Think maybe there was a bad socket in the old set-up.

Left brake light continued not to work after using turn signal. Hit the signal again and it worked. Replaced the turn signal switch yesterday and it seems to be working now. Of course, I believe I said that once before!!
