Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 201 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 201 | OK, I have a '46 2-ton with the original 235. I'm having issues keeping exhaust manifold gaskets in it. It has been suggested that I fully remove the manifold and check to see if it's warped. I plan to do this next week. Now the question; if the manifold is warped, would I be better off to have it machined flat or should I look into headers for dual exhaust? This truck was bought to use, so a little extra power could be helpful and I have heard that headers can help with gas milage too. My concern is that getting more power from an engine that's nearly 70 years old might not be good for the engine. I know there will be expenses in adding a dual exhaust system, but if I have to do something with it anyway, now would be the time. Thanks for your thoughts. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 | Go for it! Its like the old adage, "Choose a fat, ugly bride. She will never leave you. But if she does, you didn't lose much." Seriously I can't see how letting your engine breath easier will hurt anything. Just don't go crazy with your extra 4 horsepower (don't scoff, that's a 5% increase over your current 80 hp engine).

I have done several and would quote you $50. If nobody wants your business the Fenton headers and of course the entire dual setup can be transferred to a 235/261 upgrade if you do manage to wear it out.
