My goodness, whomever thought of this cheap cardboard headliner at gmc, I hope they made him install them all. At least that way he had 35 years of misery for a dumb idea.
Cardboard must have been cutting edge in1953

will need to order a new one and give it another go. The first one ended up looking like a three year old wrapped chritsmas gift thrown from a Fedex truck.

installing the headliners in these trucks on the production
line.
Sounds like you've arrived at the correct solution, that is, the
headliner was installed before the windlace at the factory.
Almost everyone tries to put them in with the old windlace
still in place or after they have installed the new one and then
they find it's a real pain in the ars.

I don't care how many of these flat ones somebody like us have put in, each and every one sucks! I can't imagine a guy on an assembly line battling these flat ones all day long without going postal.

Did you put the headliner in a panel or a pickup? Do you have any tips to share on how to do this task that so many of us have so much trouble? How do you keep the two pieces to stay in the floating center support? How do you keep from having gaps at various spots around the perimeter?
