How much coil spring can I cut off my 65 chevy truck? I want it to be as low as I can get it without it being so rough of a ride that I can't drive it.it has a 04 350 vortec in it.id like it to have a little rake to it and dont want the tires to rub over bumps or while turning.

Here is how id "LIKE" to get it.

And here is a pic of how it sits now. I can get more details if you need them.

I know cutting the coils isnt the best thing to do but im trying to get it ready for the Rodrun in pigeon forge in September .
I just need a general idea of how much to cut front and back.

Cutting the coils will not get you what you want, best bet would be to get the proper drop springs and do it right the first time. Cutting the springs will alter the rate, both from coil removal and by changing the temper of the springs from the heat of cutting them. You'll end up with the rough ride that you don't want. In addition, it's difficult to get an exact dimension to cut to get a given amount of drop. You have to consider the spring wear, plus the temper change.
Summit shows drop springs for your truck. Most of them look like they are in stock and ready to be shipped, should be able to have them within a week at the most.

Earlyclassicenterprises has a sick drop kit for like $800. I've installed them on my 64 and 65 c10s. I went with the 4-6 drop they offer. Rides great and can even haul a decent amount. It comes as complete set. Coils, shocks and drop spindles. Rear end track bar and everything. Check it out before ya butcher some coils and bounce down the road.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.
