I've read all the threads, and I realize there is some disagreement about the "correct" gray. I like the relatively lighter JC gray (PT115) but they are out of stock with no firm date.


Meanwhile, Classic Parts has a specially mixed gray, part no. 88-005. They say it is correct, but there is no paint chip. Best the staff could do is to tell me it is a "medium to light" color. Has anyone used this specific paint, and can you describe it? Thanks!

why not get a qt of white and one of black and mix your preferred shade out of the brand you want?

That would double the cost. All I want is the JC color, available now.

Bill Hirsch Automotive Paint Products does the best job I have seen so far on giving you the correct gray in spray cans.

If spray cans are a problem, they also do it in cans. They have been doing this forever so they know the proper colors. Hope this helps.

I have used the Bill Hirsch "medium" grey paint, bought a quart. Brushed it on the block, looks great. Put some in a HVLP gun, and sprayed the valve cover, looks fantastic.. Highly recommend this paint, quality!
