I've got a 1955 1st series 3100 ,the bed is trash, I picked up a 86 short-step. the measuments are the same & it came with wood, which has seen its better days . Plans are to replace wood & fenders. What troubles are ahead for me ????

We have an article about the differences from one year to the next. http://www.mar-k.com/installation_hints.aspx Scroll down to the "bed side interchangeability" article toward the bottom of the list.

Good luck with your project

I've got a 54' 3100 that has a 73-77? (not sure about the end date) stepside bed on it. It fits for the most pary, other than the step. It doesnt line up with the running boards and just looks plane goofy. I'm sure it would look better with the correct year fenders, and fixing where that step is... but I'm not sure it would look right still.
