On a truck that's been sitting for 15+ years I've finally gotten close to getting it back on the road. I replaced the differential rear gasket and front seal for the pinion yoke, but now wish I'd replaced the seals on both sides as I'm getting leakage on the passenger side. Would anyone know who makes these seals and have a part number so I can get it from a local parts store? While I'm in here for a 2nd time is there something else that I should check or replace, maybe bearings? Classic Chevy gave me their part number which was 73-171, but couldn't provide more than that.

Hy dcraven, welcome, the rear axle seal for a 1/2 ton from 1946 to 1962 is National p/n 5801, hope that helps.

You might need a new rear cover gasket?

Thanks for the National p/n. I think the Timken #'s for the seal is 414045 and for the bearing R1502EL, though the local parts stores I called don't have them in stock, so gonna order from Classic Chevy Truck which was considerably cheaper.

And yes, going to need a new rear cover gasket. Might as well order new rear axle locks just in case. Am I missing anything?
