I am now completely obsessed with these darn trucks ( ) and purchased a 1950 5 window frame and cab. It is pretty much stripped out so I am gong to "torque" this one up a bit once I peel off all the parts and get it down to the frame. I intend to leave my current Chcvy as stock as possible.

I am told that GMC made a 302 engine that would fit / work well with this frame. I also understand these are hard to come by so I am putting out some early feelers.

Anyone have any leads on a 302 engine in any condition that would eventually work?

The Swap Meet is a good place for a search for a GMC 302.

You might want a non-military 302, unless you want to do some milling/drilling modifications. The 270 GMC is also an excellent engine and far more plentiful.

then try looking for a later 235 or 261. it will make the job easier and less costlier.
