The tranny on my 54 1/2 ton blew out and my transmission guy is having trouble finding a replacement 3 speed tranny case. He's gotten two that were in poor condition. Does anyone know where I can get a good one?

StephenB,

I do not see a part/price show up at Truckolet's link; however, the part number at that link is correct for 1948-1954 regular duty truck 3-speed transmissions, 591631. Try calling Obsolete Chevrolet Parts Company for availability/price.

That case is listed here for $250 ( CollectorsAutoSupply.com
1-888-772-7848 )

Do you have a casting number or something. I have 1 or2 partialy disassembled trans. from that era at the shop. I can look at them tomorrow.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I recently shipped a 1955 3-speed transmission from NY to TN for about $60 (FedEx ground).

There were 2 different 3 speed transmissions offered on the '54 trucks.
Will be wise to be specific on which trans. you need parts for.
