Thanks for posting

As a habit I tend to ignore banners on web pages. Sadly I didn't even realize what was under uncle sam.

Just placed my order

I checked them out a few days ago, pretty neat. Got me thinking of ways to adapt one to work with a column shift.

Hey, a big "thank you" to all you guys that have ordered knobs. You're helping to keep this site going. I will be working this weekend to make a few more and I'll be shipping them out on Monday, June 11.

Those are really great looking. For the older trucks (I have a 46) is the threaded hole bigger or smaller than the shift rod? I was wondering if I could thread the shift rod for it to fit? Thanks.

A heads up to those thinking of buying one of Mike's knobs. It's an EXCELLENT product and looks quite nice in my '38. Goes good with my interior. (ignore the dust on the dash) grin

Daves46pu, I have a 41 with 3-speed and I just threaded mine with a fine thread 3/8" and it worked great. Mike sends you the adapter for that application when you order.

Mike is one of us! He is helpful about odd threads and has a site that has all kinds of bushings that he doesn't have. I needed one. My knob goes out in his next shipment! I can't wait!

best wishes,

Les

Mine is also being shipped on Monday. I can't wait! Since I'm now putting my 37 back together, it will be the last piece I put on as a finishing touch.

I would love to make one of these into a spinner/suicide knob. Has anyone seen just a steering wheel mount that I might be able to retrofit?

Hi Mike, I have a '57 with a lokar shifter. It has a button in the center that I have press in order to put the truck in gear. Do you make a knob that accommodates this ?

Hi One Ear Dicky. I'm running the same shifter in my '58.

Lokar makes an adapter so that you can use a regular solid knob instead of the Lokar knob with the button in the middle.

It works good. Instead of pushing the button to change gears, you press down on the whole knob.

I believe it takes a 3/8-24 adapter to fit it to the Lokar adapter, which I can supply.

Beautiful work. Reminds me of the Stovebolt license plate topper I saw somewhere. Who makes those? Are they still manufactured?

Here is another link to the knob. There had been a photo/link on the left - it is now gone. Let's see how long this link is good.

Someone above had a great idea... Make some into a wheel spinner aka Suicide knob... What are the chances you'd do that ? I know they are illegal in most states but we'd buy them anyway... smile

Mike really did a good job with these and he has been faithful to send in the donation for the site. All around good guy. We will get that little square back on the forum column as soon as I can.

Gus, that picture of the knob is impressive. I have a suicide knob on my Sebring (required as I am a para). I may have to see if I can switch out for one of these. Not a Stovebolt but HA, I'm the worker bee, right? LOL

Hi folks. I've thought about making a suicide knob. It's a good idea, BUT...

1) I don't have a source for the quality hardware I would need.
2) It would require a completely different manufacturing process
3) but mostly, I'm not sure I would want to be responsible in case of a product failure having to do with something as vital as steering. That part makes me a little nervous.
