Yester day I installed the interior rubber windlace for the two doors. I noticed that in some areas that the windlace does not butt up against the interior face of the doors. From the outside, the doors look like they're aligned correctly. I then put in the door weather-stripping and the doors seem to align correctly and close tight. Is the winlace-to-door surface gaps normal?

Those gaps seem to be normal when installing windlace from any vendor.

Some people will give opinions on what was originally normal, but no one really knows. It would seem odd if original cab door-opening windlace did not provide a seal when the trucks were new/delivered.

As I understand the manual the area above the window bottom should be adjusted 1/8" inboard of flush with the cab.
From the bottom of the window down to the door bottom along the back edge your looking for a flush fit. The front edge of the door calls for 3/32" proud of the front fender along that edge.
If your having trouble with getting proper crush and the bottom/top, front/back gap of the doors are correct THEN place something in the door jam (they call for a 2x4)and bend the widow frame inboard... This of course is all in addition to the front/back/top/bottom gaps. I do the gaps first then go for the flush adjustments... I don't really care about what was 'original' I want it to fit now cause I know it didn't for the last 40+ years due to the previous owners 'living with it' attitudes...
