I hooked up the battery and smelled wires burning. The black wire from the starter goes to the amp meter, comes out the other side of meter BLK/WHT and goes through firewall. I added a voltage regulator relocation kit because I have a alternator that has internal. A quick way to find problem is with a trouble light (ice pick looking thing with a light bulb in the handle). If no current draw then the test lamp will not light. Put it between a disconnected battery cable and it's post. Start pulling fuses until the light goes out. You found the bad circuit. I would first look at any new circuits. Lift wire off terminals if no fuse in that circuit. Good luck
