Planetary gears blew up, thankfully no damage to the ring, pinion or bearings. Want to improve Hwy cruising a bit. The rear in the 62 has the octagonal cover and my 60 has a round cover. The 62 also has a posi unit in it that I couldn't find info on. Most of what I found was the cast open carrier. This has a cylindrical housing for the disks/planetary's with a flat cover with bolts. you can see end of the pins of the planetary gears in the side. pictures on facebook. What would be a good ratio to use now? 265/75/15 tires. It has a round cover and the nose is removable from the driveshaft side. BUTTTT it has riveted on backing plates! If i drill/cut the rivets can I use my restored bolt on backing plates and axle retainers? This rear appears to be a 3:23 or so. I really would like to use my old backing plates and axles due to the fact EVERYTHING is new and or powder coated.
