I decided to go ahead and install it into the distrubutor.How much of a gap is there supose to be,between the magnetic collar and the electronic pickup ? Seems to be a large gap, is it supose to be that way ? I don't have the block back yet from the machine shop, so there is no cranking the engine yet. I did'nt find anything in the instructions that came with the unit.This is being installed in a 1954 261 truck engine.

It looks very much like the 6v Pertronix unit that I have in a 1954 235. The gap is a little hard to judge because of the camera angle (I took this at night); however, there is quite a wide gap and there seems to be no way to adjust the gap by moving the mounting plate. Most deffinetly should read the directions.I hope it is nice as you guys say,I can't wait.
