I have gotten all my exterior lights to work except my front turn/park lights. The rear park/stop lights and turn signals work, just not the front. The headlights also work. Could it be in the switch? Does anybody have a good wiring diagram for this year and system? Maybe also a dashboard diagram? Thanks, Josh | | |

#94975 03/08/2006 4:05 AM | Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 390 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 390 | Ijust went through the same thing with my 66 c-3o.Front signals quit working.Putzing around lowered the hood some and worked fine.Raised the hood and looked again and no lights..Closed the hood and work fine again.Havent fixed it yet but i asume ive got a bare wire.The way i noticed the problem was when i turne the left or right signal on ,both would blink on the dash but not externaly.

When some bulb other than the proper one is flashing that means the current is flowing across the turn signal filament, back across the park light (or tail light) filament trying to find a place to ground itself. In Slow..Rider's case it was finding it at the instrument panel. In other cases it travels the park light wire to the other side, goes through the other parklight filament and finds a ground there.
You guys with turn signals in the hood might consider a ground strap from hood to cab. I don't know but I'm guessing they're supposed to ground through the hinges but don't do it after 40 years. That would explain Slow..Rider's working with the hood closed but not open. It's finding a ground at the latch. | | |
