Several months ago I disassemble my 235 from our 55.2 3600 chevy truck. I had labeled everthing since I knew it would be awhile till it was re-assembled.
When I was putting the rocker arm rack assembly back on, I noticed I had a small piece of thick wire saved in a baggie tied to the rocker assy. I have no idea what this is for or where it goes.

I am not able to take any pics and post them, sorry. Does anyone know what I am talking about, or maybe it doesn't even go with the motor? Thanks. Brian

Brian,

Is your truck's engine a 1955-2nd series engine? If it is, here is an illustration of the right half of the rocker arm assembly. The parts to the left of the oil connector are basically similar to the parts shown in the illustration. Do you have the clip a each end?

If you are missing one or both clips, maybe that thick wire is a cob-job substitution?

TC,
I do have the clips on both ends of the valve train rocker shaft. This piece is bent into a U- like shape? Maybe 3/4 of an inch in length. THe wire is about the diameter of a coat hanger. Hopin it is nothing I need, gonna fire it up on the engine start stand this week anyway. My buddy says he will help me post a pic of it on here. Thanks for your insight. Brian
