I have a problem with the Rt. blinker mode on '66 Chev shorty.... When the right signal is on and flashing, the left is too. Left signal does not affect right and both fronts operate normally. Ck'd w/ VOM at rear bumper area plug,,,, Problem is ahead of that.. right now have no st wheel puller, but suspect elect contact bridging under st wheel.... any other ideas? Also will a stock 350 temp sender operate the dash gauge correctly on this pu? orig. engine was a 283 I believe...'Thanks!

I'm thinking like you ... contact is hitting under the steering wheel -- or in the blinker switch assembly ... or it could be grounding somewhere/anywhere between there and the right blinker.

Since the left flashes when the right is on, the wire from the right must be connecting to the left somewhere.

It's a BAD GROUND on the right side tail light, so power is having to travel throught the tail light on the right side, then to the tail light on the left to find ground.

Turn on the tail lights, then step on the brake, does the right side go out, and the left side works? If so then its the Ground. If both side light up with the tail lights on and stop lights, then yes it could be a bad switch. If the wires were shorted out some place then if would do the same both ways.

grounded tail light inner assy to bumper - no change. brake lts do work with taillights on. i'm still thinking signal plate under wheel because the innards look bright under there like someone replaced it, but the wires on the st post look original - maybe a bad solder job.... thanks for the input!

Try running a tempory wire from the battery negative terminal to the frame of the right tail light to eliminate any chance of a bad ground. Easy to try and it will eliminate a lot of guesswork.

The temp sender was the same 78-79 on back. Make shure it,s not for a warning light.
